Curator for the William F. Eisner Advertising and Design Museum, Milwaukee, WI
The William F. Eisner Advertising & Design Museum seeks a curator to play a key role in establishing the interpretive direction and exhibitions program for a new Museum. Affiliated with the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, the Museum will be an interactive and interpretive center focusing on the development of advertising and design and its relationship to popular culture. Successful candidate must be comfortable in a museum start up. Interest in interpretation of popular culture vital.
Responsibilities include: care and interpretation of all objects and material belonging or lent to MIAD and the Museum; research and development of a collections strategy; development of operating manual and disaster plan; oversight of exhibit development and installation; and participation in development of education and public programs and fund raising.
MFA or MA preferred with strong background in visual arts, advertising design or production, graphic design, industrial design or relevant area of study in the humanities. Computer proficiency in collections management software or relational databases, strongly preferred. MIAD is a four year professional art college accredited by NASAD and North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
