I John Metcalfe Commissioner of the Revenue for the Corporation of Fredericksburg do hereby certify that at the period of taking the tests of taxable property in said Corporation, I assessed Mathew D. Anderson esq, with the tax of thirty cents for one slave for the year 1840, but omitted to charge him with the tax on my books as Commissioner of the Revenue in & for the District of Fred'burg.
