In evaluating an application to rehabilitate or construct a building,
the Architectural Review Board examines the larger design features first
- such as scale, massing, and height - and then focuses on the details
of construction. The emphasis on the context of the proposed alterations
or construction, rather than conformity to existing building styles, allows
the property owner the broadest latitude of expression. The following checklist
provides the sequence for the Board's evaluation:
The subsequent sections are loosely organized around this checklist
and provide basic information that should be of use to building owners.
